Great news - Chiriches going

Summer flop Vlad Chiriches is as expected on his way out of White Hart Lane and it would be no surprise if the mystery twinge in the back is a typical transfer window injury.

Great news - Chiriches going

Franco Baldini met with Roma director of football Walter Sabatini and agreed a deal to transfer Chiriches to the Serie A club. Gazzetta dello Sport reported the pair met over dinner to discuss striker Mattia Destro and the Romanian captain. Calciomercatio journalist Nicolo Schira also tweeted confirmation of a deal agreed between the pair.

“Agreement today between Walter Sabatini and Franco Baldini for Vlad Chiriches from Tottenham to Roma.”

Tottenham have been trying to offload Chiriches all summer and his agent reported that Chiriches hadn't adapted to the Premier League feeling he wouldn't play for Tottenham again. He too has been actively searching for an Italian club for him feeling the slower pace and less physicality would suit his client better.

Having brought in Eric Dier, who at 20 has already shown ability, Spurs needed to offload a central defender and Chiriches has been top of the list.

The deal for Mateo Musacchio as I reported yesterday is almost certainly dead and attention has been turned to an alternative target, Sevilla 27-year-old Federico Fazio who will cost £8.01 million (€10m) from the Europa League holders.

He has a release clause in his contract that Spurs will activate and are hoping to tie a deal today. Spanish newspaper AS confirmed that Fazio is flying to London to have a medical and sign a contract, Sevilla are said to be very angry with Fazio.

He is a massive 6ft 5in (1.95m) tall so will provide considerable aerial ability. Spanish sports daily Marca report his agents have cancelled a contract renewal meeting, so should he arrive then that will signal the end for Kaboul or Dawson, depending which one can be offloaded, as both would rather stay.

Kaboul has one year left on his contract and Dawson has two years. To get a transfer for Kaboul he would really need to be sold this window otherwise he is going to have to offered a new contract or allowed to leave on a free at the end of the season.

Lazio are known to be readying a move for Kaboul late in the window to secure him at the best possible price for them, at the moment they consider Daniel Levy's valuation a bit high.
