Tottenham chase Birmingham starlet

Tottenham continue their search for young talent to mop up and have been casting more than a few glances in the direction of Birmingham City youngster Demarai Gray.

Tottenham chase Birmingham starlet

Tottenham are not alone is casting glances towards hi, all the top Premier League clubs are watching him and Liverpool it seems have a first option on him.

According to the Daily Mirror, who we have seen over the Ali Ahamada nonsense are not adverse to making up a story, when Birmingham took Jordan Ibe on loan from Liverpool a clause in his contract gave Liverpool first-option or the option to match any offer made for Gray who they say is valued at £2 million.

His Birmingham contract runs out in 2016 and the Midlands club have already rejected a £500,000 bid from Crystal Palace. Next summer he only has one year left on his contract so unless Birmingham tie him down to a new deal he could be available at an affordable price, instead of some of the inflated nonsense we have seen some Championship players go for, Wilfred Zaha being a prime example.

Demarai Gray plays on the left wing but can play on the right and has broken into the Birmingham Championship team. He has only played 2 full matches, scoring 1 goal but has featured in 10 of the 11 games so far. Clearly he is being eased along, understandable given he is only 18 and players in this country mature slower than those overseas.

He took part in the recent England U19 youth international against Germany which ended in a 1-1 draw. The match took place in Holland and Gray was one of four substitutes brought on after 59 minutes. That was his first England U19 cap having gained 4 England U18 caps. He is also qualified to play for Jamacia.
