Will Liverpool and Southampton heap pressure on Spurs?

One more day and the foc for a UEFA Europa League spot brings another round of games. Southampton and Liverpool are playing on Saturday expecting to heap pressure on Spurs Sunday fixture with Manchester City.

It's a difficult weekend for Spurs with our history of cracking under pressure in recent years. Several times we have looked set for a UEFA Champions League place only to see us blow it on the run i when Arsenal usually go on a winning run. That is purely mental, it's not down to skill or fatigue, but mental frailty and it demonstrates why we need mentally stronger players.

Liverpool have a home tie against a rejuvenated QPR under Chris Ramsey, who is doing his chances of a permanent job no harm at all at the moment. He has got them scoring goals and any team that can score goals is a threat. At Anfield though and without the FA Cup to worry about, you'd expect Liverpool to pick up three points, but there are no guarantees in football as those expecting a Liverpool Arsenal final found out. Losing three and drawing one of their last five games has certainly done us a favour.

Southampton ate away at Sunderland who are now in the relegation zone. Sunderland have the  same points tally as Liverpool over the last five games, just four out of a possible fifteen. The signing of former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has not had the required effect and Pochettino will be hoping he can do us a favour.

Southampton have picked up seven points out of a possible fifteen and four points out of a possible fifteen away from home, the same number as Sunderland have picked up at home in their last five games. The statistics make his look a tighter game than would first appear on paper.

The situation couldn't be much tighter with just 12 points to play for.

Liverpool 58 points, GD 10
Tottenham Hotspur 58 points, GD 6
Southampton 57 points, GD 21
