Kondogbla staying at Monaco

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to get his players in early and two have now arrived, a centre-back and a right-baxk. Next is central midfield where he wishes to replace Paulinho and Brazilian Paulinho and Frenchman Étienne Capoue.

For one of those slots we have made an offer for Pedro Obiang, but he has joined West Ham United to ensure himself of regular football and Gianneli Imbula among others. Imbula has agreed terms with Inter Milan and now Inter and Marseilles who were apart on the fee have agreed a 19 million EUR fee. That transfer looks nailed on now.

Morgan Schbeiderlin is top of the list and I believe Daniel Levy has agreed to meet Southampton's asking price, the rest is up to Schneiderlin to choose his destination. Arsenal don't want to pay the fee and Manchester United are after a preferred target first, he is the fall back option.

Adrien Rabiot is a long term target and his agent, who is also his mother, has asked PSG for a transfer as her son will not get 35 games next season for the French team and she feels he needs that for his development. I don't know but it may well be that we have been in contact again lately and told him we want him.

All that brings us to Monaco defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, who it has been suggested by the Spanish press, we have made a bid for. My research into the situation reveals that he is set to stay at Monaco, however Barcelona want him. The Spanish club currently have a transfer embargo which lasts until January.

Barcelona are still trying to buy Paul Pogba from Juventus but if they can't get him have earmarked Kondogbiaa as their next preference. That interest, of which his agent will be well aware, will surely see him staying in France for the time being. The 22-year-old Frenchman has turned down Inter Milan and has had talks with Arsenal and a host of other clubs.

Spanish daily newspaper Sport have reaffirmed though that our offer and interest in Kondogbia is not just speculation so while hi signing is unlikely it is not totally out of the question.
