Napoli want Dembélé

Mousa Dembélé may have just turned the corner at Spurs after years of staying i his comfort zone. He would do what he does and when Pochettino arrived failed to change his game. He moves the ball too slowly and gently rolls the ball to a teammate instead of playing it with pace to arrive at it's destination quicker.

A season where Dembélé has had to play second fiddle to others seems to have done the trick and he is looking to adapt his game to the teams requirements. Last season he had just 11 shots, 1 every 105 minutes, this season he has had 4 already, all of them on target, a shot every 58.25 minutes.

Napoli have taken note and are interested in taking him to Italy but need to sell first. Most transfers take place in the last 2 weeks of a window as clubs try to get better deals for players with clubs having to take lower offers or be more flexible over payment terms to do business.

The problem for Napoli, who signed Vlad Chiriches earlier this summer, is their wage bill which needs reducing. Just like us they need to lose some deadwood, the owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is said to be keen to offload some of the more expensive players including Jonathan De Guzman, Juan Camilo Zuniga and Kalidou Koulibaly. As we know to our cost that is not always easy, although Franco Baldini has done well this summer selling players.

While Spurs and Napoli officials are on good terms a move looks unlikely now Dembélé has a regular starters role, which of course may come under threat from new signing Clinton Njié and potential new signing Heung-Min Son .

 Napoli would struggle to afford his wages without shifting players. Their wage structure has been reported as being  £35,000-a-week for general squad players and large wages on stars who make a difference, striker Gonzalo Higuain is believed to be on  £135,000-a-week.
