Spurs preparing late bid for talented Barcelona youngster Munir

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham are reported to be approaching 21-year-old (22 in September) Spanish Under-21 forward Munir El Haddadi.

The Barcelona forward is being tracked by Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad, Arsenal, Ajax, AC Milan, Schalke 04, PSG and Valencia, but Tottenham are ready to submit an offer. Munir is under contract until June 2019 and he recently scored in the Super Cup against Sevilla. He has one full international cap against Macedonia and generally plays on the right, although he can play on the left or as a centre-forward.

The Barcelona youngster has scored 29 goals in 83 appearances, which when you consider plenty of those will be substitute appearances is quite a decent strike rate. Of those 45 have been with the first team where he has netted 10 times and provided 10 assists. Again that looks a decent strike rate for a young backup player. In total he has played 26 LaLiga games scoring 4 goals and assisting in 4 more.

He has played 26 games as a centre-forward (12 goals, 5 assists), 24 as a right winger (4 goals, 7 assists), 19 as a left winger (11 goals, 3 assists) and 3 as an attacking midfielder (0 goals, 2 assists).

He is the latest in a line of players who have been unable to force their way into the side and hold down a first team place. The last to do so was Sergio Busquets and Pedro eight years ago now.

When you think of Barcelona you not only think of superstar players winning trophies but of the famed academy. It is still producing players but they are not playing for Barcelona. We are now looking to take one of them who has the potential to be the fourth striker Barcelona are searching for. Their are reports that he wants to stay at Barcelona in that role, but whether Luis Enrique wants him to is another matter and one we, as yet, don't know the answer to.
