Steve Hitchen is refoining Tottenham Hotspur, but in what role?

Steve Hitchen is going to join Tottenham Hotspur a second time it seems. Previously he has worked for us as a scout and is now set to be appointed the new Head of Recruitment to replace the outgoing Paul Mitchell.

At least that is what some are reporting, others are suggesting he will be appointed Chief Scout to take over from Ian Broomfield whose contract came to an end in December. With no word from Spurs we will have to wait and see which lobby is right.
Hitchen worked as a scout for Spurs between 2005 and 2010 and was instrumental in Luka Modric coming to Spurs. Luis Suarez is one that got away when Harry Redknapp turned down the chance to sign him. Instead Hitchen left for Liverpool and they signed him in 2011.

It was only in August 2016 that Hitchen and then Tottenham Head of Recruitment, Rob Mackenzie, were appointed as directors of recruitment at the iPro Stadium. The pair oversaw the club's recruitment, analysis and scouting operations.

Hitchen is a former player himself with spells at Blackburn Rovers and Macclesfield Town. He spent five years at Spurs, two years at Liverpool, rhen three years at QPR. He is credited with having specialist knowledge of European football having spent many years in France.
