TRANSFER TALK

Spurs' German scout Peter Braund is at the UEFA 2017 U-21 European Championships in Poland and is naturally concentrating on the German side where we have eyes on several players, particularly max Meyer of Schalke and Jeremy Toljan of Hoffenheim.

Jeremy Toljan  is a 22-year-old (23 in August) German dual-footed left-back, sponsored by Nike and under contract until 2018. Thus he is entering the last year of his contract meaning his price will be below his true market value should he have a longer contract.

He has versatility, last season he played 8 games as a right-sided midfielder, 6 as a substitute, 3 on the left-hand side of midfield, 1 as a central midfielder, 1 as a defensive midfielder and 1 as a right-back, whie for the German Under-21 team, he is a left-back. he can also play centre-back.

He certainly seems to have the ability to play in various positions which helps Pochettino keep players involved within the squad and covers for injuries. It used to be seen as a negative when players had versatility, many believing it stoppd them holding down one place, now under Pochettino it is seen as a positive.
