Tottenham eyeing Argentinian centre-back

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham are said to be eyeing 20-year-old (21 next January) right-footed Argentinian Under-20 (he has 9 caps) central defender Juan Foyth.

We have had him watched over the past few months since he was recommended to manager Pochettino.Spurs would need to pay Foyth’s Argentinian employers Estudiantes about £5m to trigger his release clause report the Daily Mirror.

That figure is probably arrived at from the £5.69 million (€6.5m - AUS$9.61m - US$7.28m) Roma have already bid for him according to Football Italia who go on to report that they face competition from Spanish side Atlético Madrid.

Atlético have a transfer ban at the moment, but Barcelona still signed players during their ban, they just couldn't play competitive football. They would look to loan him back, making a mockery of the ban again. That story originates from Radio La Red in Argentina and according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport that offer was rejected.

Mondo Deportivo suggest Monchi, the new transfer guru at Roma, is a big fan and we know how good he is at putting a team together on a budget. They report that there have been very good reports passed on by Atlético scouts and that French side Lille and Belgian side Anderlecht are also watching him.

South American clubs always need income so Estudiantes President Juan Sebastián Verón feels he is worth holding on to fr a better payday.

He has only just broken into the first team and is seen as a highly promising prospect.
