Roberto interest and Spurs scouting Benfica and Porto games

TRANSFER TALK

Spurs are interested in 25-year-old (26 next February) Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto. Barcelona manager Robert Fernández has told him that he is vital, but Roberto feels that the midfield is overbooked, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

"We talked to Sergi Roberto, he is a very important player for us. We want him to be here for many years."

He has a reported £36.69 million (€40m - AUS$59.33m - US$47.04m) release clause. Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea have all made him offers. If Messi has told Barcelona that Roberto must not be sold, I guess he won't be.

Scouting News

On Monday 14 August, Spurs, West Ham United, Manchester United, Championship side Aston Villa, Spanish side Celta Vigo, Italian side Atalanta, French side Montpellier and Belgian side Anderlecht all scouted the 1-0 win for Benfica against Chaves. We don't scout regularly in Portugal.

Having said that, we sent a scout to watch 23 year-old (24 in October ) Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira in 1-0 win at Tondela on Sunday. Manchester United, Spanish side Valladolid and Belgian side Anderlecht also had scouts there.
